Saturday, September 22, 2018, 10 AM – 4 PM

San Mateo County Event Center, 1346 Saratoga Avenue, San Mateo

Experience interactive demonstrations, emergency vehicles, first responders, informative workshops and activities for kids! Community resource tables will be on site to provide information and resources to develop your own preparedness plans. Check out bomb squad robots, venture into the smoky house and see NBC’s Stormtracker, as well as learn from some of the experts in the field. Giveaways and fun for the whole family!

Disaster Preparedness Day was established in November 2005, following Hurricane Katrina, the costliest natural disaster in United States history affecting 90,000 square miles and killing nearly 2,000 people. A collaboration between the Office of Emergency Services and Board of Supervisors, it serves both as a reminder of the importance of preparedness as well and an opportunity for individuals and families to collect resources and gain comfort with emergency procedures, personnel and emergency response infrastructures.
